OUR PROJECTS

What we're working on

East Gippsland Active Transport is a volunteer group working to make walking, cycling and mobility travel safer and better connected across the region. Our projects range from a decade-long campaign for a shared path between Bairnsdale and Paynesville, to hands-on community education, to specific requests for safer crossings and footpaths. Bairnsdale to Paynesville Shared Path Our flagship campaign for a safe, off-road walking and cycling path linking Bairnsdale and Paynesville, and the route options we are pursuing.

Workshops & Education VicRoads-funded courses run by EGATI across East Gippsland: bike maintenance, adult bike education, walking with care and mobility device use.

Infrastructure Improvement Requests The specific active-transport fixes EGATI has put to council and the Department of Transport - crossings, footpaths and connections around East Gippsland.

Road Safety Committee EGATI attends the East Gippsland Shire monthly Road Safety Committee meeting to advocate for safer roads, lower speeds and better active transport links.
